Indianapolis Wedding Photographer | Tips & Tricks for Planning your 2024 or 2025 Indiana Wedding

Indianapolis Wedding Photographer | Tips & Tricks for Planning your 2024 or 2025 Indiana Wedding

Planning a wedding in Indiana for 2024 or 2025 is an exciting endeavor. To help you navigate this process successfully, here's some valuable advice covering cost-saving tips, vendor availability, and unique decor ideas:

Cost-Saving Tips:

  1. Off-Peak Seasons: Consider scheduling your wedding during the off-peak months, typically November through March. Venues and vendors often offer discounts during these times, helping you save on your overall budget.

  2. Weekday Weddings: Opting for a weekday wedding can significantly reduce costs for venues and some vendors. Keep in mind that guests may need to adjust their schedules, so give them ample notice.

  3. Local Florals: Choose seasonal and locally sourced flowers for your decor. Not only will this support local businesses, but it can also be more budget-friendly.

  4. DIY Decor: Get creative with DIY decor elements like centerpieces, signage, and favors. Enlist the help of friends and family for crafting sessions to make it a fun pre-wedding activity.

  5. Digital Invitations: Consider sending digital invitations instead of traditional paper ones. This not only saves on printing and postage costs but also reduces environmental impact.

Vendor Availability:

  1. Book Early: Begin your vendor search as soon as possible, especially for popular venues and in-demand vendors. Booking well in advance ensures you secure your first-choice options.

  2. Consult Local Directories: Use local wedding directories, websites, and social media groups to find trusted vendors in your area. Reading reviews and checking portfolios can help you make informed decisions.

  3. Consider All-Inclusive Venues: Some venues offer all-inclusive wedding packages that include catering, decor, and even coordination services. These packages can simplify the planning process and save you time and money.

  4. Flexible Dates: Be open to multiple wedding dates. If your preferred vendors are booked on your first choice, having alternative dates in mind increases the chances of securing them.

  5. Vendor Recommendations: Ask your chosen vendors for recommendations for other trusted professionals, such as photographers, florists, and entertainers. They often have a network of trusted colleagues in the industry.

Unique Decor Ideas:

  1. Indiana-Inspired Decor: Incorporate elements of Indiana's rich culture and history into your decor. Consider using vintage maps, state flower (peony) arrangements, or even Hoosier-inspired cuisine.

  2. Barn Weddings: Indiana is known for its picturesque barn venues. Embrace the rustic charm by using reclaimed wood, string lights, and mason jars for decor.

  3. Winery Vibes: If you're hosting your wedding at one of Indiana's wineries, play up the vineyard theme with wine barrel cocktail tables, wine cork place card holders, and grapevine wreaths.

  4. State Fair Fun: Indiana is famous for its state fair. Infuse a touch of nostalgia with fair-inspired decor like popcorn stations, carnival games, and rustic wooden signs.

  5. Natural Beauty: Make the most of Indiana's scenic landscapes. Host an outdoor wedding with lush greenery, wildflower bouquets, and wooden arches for your ceremony.

  6. Seasonal Decor: Embrace the beauty of each season. In spring, think about cherry blossoms and pastel colors; for fall, use pumpkins, leaves, and rich, warm tones; winter calls for evergreen branches and cozy, candlelit decor.

When to Buy Your Wedding Dress:

  1. Start Early: Wedding dress shopping can be an exciting and sometimes lengthy process. Ideally, begin your search about 9-12 months before your wedding. This timeframe allows for customization, alterations, and any unforeseen delays.

  2. Consider Sample Sales: Bridal shops often hold sample sales where you can purchase a designer gown at a significantly reduced price. These sales typically take place at the end of each season, so keep an eye out for these opportunities.

  3. Off-the-Rack Options: If time is tight, you can find beautiful off-the-rack wedding dresses in boutiques. This eliminates the wait for the dress to be made and can be a cost-effective choice.

  4. Stay Open-Minded: Be open to various styles and designs. You might end up falling in love with a dress that wasn't what you initially envisioned. Trust the expertise of bridal consultants to guide you.

  5. Alteration Timing: Ensure that your dress arrives with enough time for alterations, typically 2-3 months before the wedding. Alterations can be crucial to achieving the perfect fit.

Should We Rent or Buy Our Suits:

  1. Buy for Long-Term Use: If you plan to wear the suits for future occasions (other weddings, formal events, etc.), it might make sense to invest in purchasing them. This way, you'll have a versatile addition to your wardrobe.

  2. Rent for Convenience: Renting suits is a practical choice if you don't foresee wearing them again. It offers convenience and often includes alterations and dry cleaning in the rental price.

  3. Consider Groomsmen: Think about your groomsmen's needs as well. If they are scattered geographically and it's challenging to coordinate fittings, renting may be the simpler choice.

  4. Budget Considerations: Evaluate your budget and the quality of suits you desire. Sometimes, renting high-end suits can be more cost-effective than purchasing lower-quality ones.

  5. Customization: If you want unique suits with personalized details, purchasing might be the better option. Rental options can be limited in terms of customization.

Traditional vs. Modern Wedding Trends:

  1. Traditional: Traditional weddings often feature classic elements like a white gown, church ceremony, formal attire, and a tiered wedding cake. These timeless traditions hold sentimental value for many couples.

  2. Modern: Modern weddings embrace innovation and personalization. Couples often choose non-traditional venues, unique decor, and less formal attire. Technology plays a significant role with live-streamed ceremonies and social media engagement.

  3. Hybrid: Many couples blend traditional and modern elements to create a wedding that reflects their personalities. This could involve a classic ceremony in a non-traditional venue or a modern twist on traditional rituals.

  4. Guest Experience: Modern weddings often prioritize guest experience with interactive elements, like photo booths, signature cocktails, and unique entertainment. Traditional weddings may focus more on ceremony and formalities.

  5. Personalization: Both traditional and modern weddings can be highly personalized. Couples can choose what traditions and trends resonate with them, creating a celebration that feels authentic and meaningful.

Tips for Including Pets Successfully:

If you decide to include your pets in your wedding, here are some tips to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience:

  1. Rehearse: Practice with your pets at the venue before the big day to help them acclimate to the surroundings.

  2. Assign a Handler: Designate a responsible person to be in charge of your pet during the ceremony, ensuring they are well-behaved and safe.

  3. Pet Care: Arrange for someone to take care of your pet's needs (feeding, bathroom breaks) throughout the day.

  4. Comfort: Ensure your pet is comfortable with any clothing or accessories they'll be wearing.

  5. Allergies and Fears: Inform your guests in advance about the presence of pets and ask about allergies or fears.

  6. Plan for Alternatives: Have a backup plan in case your pet becomes too anxious or uncooperative during the ceremony.

Remember that your wedding should reflect your personal style and preferences. Mix and match these tips and decor ideas to create a celebration that's uniquely yours, while also being mindful of your budget and the availability of vendors in the Indiana area. Happy planning!

In this blog post, we'll explore some of the hottest wedding trends for the year and how to capture them beautifully with the help of a talented Indianapolis wedding photographer.

Sustainable Weddings

Environmental consciousness continues to play a significant role in wedding planning. Couples are opting for eco-friendly weddings, incorporating elements such as recycled paper invitations, locally sourced flowers, and sustainable catering options. Consider having your wedding photographer capture these green details, showcasing your commitment to the environment.

Micro Weddings

Intimate gatherings have gained immense popularity in recent years, and 2024 is no different. Micro weddings, often with guest lists limited to close family and friends, allow couples to focus on quality over quantity. Indianapolis wedding photographers can capture the raw emotions and meaningful moments that are abundant in these smaller celebrations.

Bold and Unique Color Palettes

While classic white will never go out of style, 2024 is seeing a surge in couples embracing bold and unconventional color palettes. From deep jewel tones to vibrant neons, your wedding photographer can make your photos pop with these eye-catching hues.

Tech-Savvy Celebrations

Incorporating technology into weddings is a trend that's here to stay. Live-streaming your ceremony for remote guests, creating personalized wedding hashtags, and using drones for aerial shots are just a few ways technology can enhance your big day. When searching for an Indianapolis wedding photographer, be sure to find someone comfortable with these modern tech additions.

Sustainable Fashion

Wedding attire is also getting a sustainable makeover. Couples are choosing eco-friendly fabrics, vintage dresses, and even renting their outfits to reduce waste. A skilled photographer can beautifully capture the intricate details of sustainable fashion choices, allowing you to showcase your style while being environmentally conscious.

Personalized Decor

Personalization is key in 2024 wedding trends. Couples are opting for custom decor that reflects their unique love story. Whether it's personalized signage, monogrammed napkins, or custom-made centerpieces, your Indianapolis wedding photographer can make sure these details are highlighted in your wedding album.

Alternative Venues

Gone are the days when weddings were limited to traditional venues. Couples are now opting for unconventional locations such as art galleries, rooftop gardens, and even private estates. Your photographer can help you capture the essence and beauty of these unique settings.

Food Experiences

Food is taking center stage at weddings, with interactive food stations, gourmet food trucks, and custom cocktail bars becoming increasingly popular. A skilled photographer can capture the mouthwatering moments as well as the delighted expressions of your guests.

The wedding trends for 2024 are all about making your special day unique, sustainable, and truly memorable. Indianapolis Wedding Photographer | Creating a Shot List: A Photographer's Guide to Wedding Planning

Indianapolis Wedding Photographer | Creating a Shot List: A Photographer's Guide to Wedding Planning

Creating a Shot List: A Photographer's Guide to Wedding Planning

Capturing the magic of a wedding day through the lens of your camera is a responsibility that every wedding photographer takes to heart. It's not just about clicking pictures; it's about creating memories that will last a lifetime. To ensure that you don't miss a single moment, creating a comprehensive shot list is crucial. In this guide, we'll walk you through the process of creating a shot list that will help you capture all the essential moments and details of the big day.

The Importance of a Shot List

A shot list is a detailed checklist of all the photos you plan to take during a wedding. While it may seem like an additional task on your already extensive to-do list, it's an invaluable tool that helps you stay organized, focused, and ensures that you and your clients are on the same page regarding their expectations. Here's why a shot list is essential:

  1. No Missed Moments: Weddings are fast-paced and filled with fleeting, once-in-a-lifetime moments. With a shot list, you can make sure you don't miss any of them.

  2. Client Expectations: A shot list helps set clear expectations with your clients. It ensures that both you and the couple know what kind of photos will be taken, preventing any misunderstandings later.

  3. Organization: Weddings can be chaotic, and it's easy to get caught up in the whirlwind. A shot list keeps you organized, ensuring you don't forget any crucial shots.

  4. Creativity: While a shot list is essential, it doesn't mean you can't be creative. Use it as a foundation and let your creativity flow as you capture unique moments.

Building Your Shot List

Creating a shot list is a collaborative effort between you and the couple getting married. Start by having a detailed discussion with them about their preferences, style, and any specific shots they want. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you build a comprehensive shot list:

1. Pre-Wedding Consultation

Before the wedding day, schedule a meeting with the couple to discuss their vision and expectations. Ask them about their must-have shots, any special moments, or family traditions that they want you to capture. This is also a great time to get to know the couple better and build rapport.

2. Categories of Shots

Organize your shot list into different categories. This helps you stay organized and ensures you cover all aspects of the wedding. Common categories include:

  • Getting Ready: Shots of the bride and groom preparing for the day.

  • Ceremony: Capture the entire ceremony, including processional, vows, and ring exchange.

  • Family and Group Photos: Create a list of family combinations for group shots.

  • Couple Portraits: Plan for various locations and poses.

  • Reception: Document the first dance, toasts, and candid moments.

  • Details: Don't forget the small but essential details like the rings, flowers, and decor.

3. Timelines

Create a timeline for the day, listing when and where each type of shot will be taken. This ensures you allocate enough time for each segment of the wedding and don't run behind schedule.

4. Backup Plan

Always have a backup plan in case of bad weather or unforeseen circumstances. Make sure you discuss this with the couple so they are aware of the alternative arrangements.

5. Be Flexible

While a shot list is essential, it's equally important to remain flexible. Be prepared to adapt to spontaneous moments and opportunities for candid shots. Sometimes, the most memorable photos are the ones you didn't plan for.

6. Communicate

Share the shot list and timeline with the couple, the wedding planner, and any other relevant parties. Effective communication ensures that everyone is on the same page and can help you coordinate better on the wedding day.

Conclusion

Creating a shot list is a fundamental step in wedding photography planning. It ensures that you capture all the important moments and details while providing clear expectations for both you and the couple. Remember that while a shot list is essential, it should serve as a foundation for your creativity. Be prepared to adapt and embrace spontaneous moments, as they often result in the most beautiful and heartfelt images. With careful planning and a well-thought-out shot list, you'll be well-equipped to create stunning wedding memories that will be cherished for generations to come.

From the rustic charm of the venue to the cozy ambiance, this celebration was nothing short of magical. In this blog post, we'll take you on a journey through their special day and explore why September is indeed the perfect month for weddings.

A Mother's Love: Navigating Emotions on Your Child's Wedding Day

Introduction

The wedding day is a momentous occasion in anyone's life, not just for the bride and groom but also for their parents. Among those parents, the mother holds a special place, symbolizing love, support, and a lifetime of memories. As her child embarks on this new journey, a mother experiences a whirlwind of emotions, making her presence on this day nothing short of magical. In this blog post, we will explore what it means to be a mother on a wedding day and how she plays a vital role in this cherished celebration.

A Well of Emotions

A mother's heart is a repository of emotions on her child's wedding day. As she watches her son or daughter walk down the aisle, she experiences a mix of joy, pride, and nostalgia. It's a bittersweet moment, for she knows that her child is starting a new chapter in their life, and the dynamic between them will inevitably change. It's essential to embrace these emotions and allow them to flow, as they are a testament to the profound love and connection between a mother and her child.

The Pillar of Support

Mothers have always been the pillars of support for their children, and a wedding day is no exception. From helping with wedding preparations to offering a listening ear during moments of stress, a mother's support is invaluable. Her presence can provide a sense of calm and reassurance to the bride or groom, knowing that they have their mother's unwavering support as they step into married life.

The Keeper of Traditions

Mothers often play a significant role in preserving family traditions and passing them down through generations. On a wedding day, these traditions take center stage, and it's the mother who ensures they are upheld. Whether it's a family heirloom, a special recipe, or a unique cultural ritual, a mother's guidance in maintaining these traditions adds depth and meaning to the wedding celebration.

Sharing Memories

A mother's role on a wedding day also includes sharing memories and stories from her own journey through marriage and parenthood. These anecdotes serve as valuable advice and a source of inspiration for the newlyweds. It's a moment for the mother to impart wisdom and remind her child of the enduring love that has brought them to this significant milestone.

Dancing into a New Chapter

One of the most heartwarming moments during a wedding is the mother-son or mother-daughter dance. This tradition symbolizes the transition from one phase of life to another while cherishing the bond between a mother and her child. These dances are often filled with emotion, as mothers express their love through movement and music, making memories that will be treasured forever.

Conclusion

Being a mother on a wedding day is a role filled with profound emotions, love, and significance. It's a day when a mother's love shines brightly, supporting, nurturing, and celebrating her child's journey into married life. While it may be a day of mixed emotions, it's also an opportunity for mothers to reflect on the beautiful journey of parenthood and look forward to the new adventures that lie ahead for their children. In the end, a mother's presence on a wedding day is a testament to the enduring power of love and family bonds.

A Father's Heart on Wedding Day: Navigating Love and Letting Go

The wedding day is a momentous occasion, not only for the bride and groom but also for their families. As the father of the bride, this day carries a profound significance. It's a day filled with joy, mixed with a touch of melancholy, as you witness your little girl, who was once cradled in your arms, embark on a new chapter of her life. Being a father on the wedding day is a unique journey that involves a mix of emotions, responsibilities, and heartfelt moments. In this blog post, we explore what it truly means to be a father on this special day.

The Role of a Father

On the wedding day, a father's role goes beyond tradition and etiquette. While you'll undoubtedly walk your daughter down the aisle, your role is also about providing emotional support and reassurance. Your presence is a symbol of strength, stability, and unconditional love. It's about letting your daughter know that no matter where life takes her, your love and support will always be there.

Navigating Emotions

As a father, it's perfectly natural to experience a whirlwind of emotions on your daughter's wedding day. You may find yourself teary-eyed as you help her get ready or when you share a dance during the reception. These emotions are a testament to the deep bond you share with your child. Embrace them and allow yourself to feel the joy, pride, and nostalgia.

Letting Go with Love

One of the most challenging aspects of being a father on the wedding day is the realization that you're letting go of your daughter in a new way. It's essential to remember that this isn't a goodbye but a transition. You're not losing a daughter; you're gaining a son or daughter-in-law and expanding your family. Embrace this change with an open heart and the knowledge that your daughter will always cherish the values and love you instilled in her.

Creating Memorable Moments

Your role on the wedding day includes creating memorable moments. The father-daughter dance is a poignant instance where you can express your love through music and movement. Choose a meaningful song that reflects your relationship and celebrate the special connection you share.

Supporting the Newlyweds

Your role as a father doesn't end when your daughter says "I do." In fact, it evolves into being a pillar of support for the newlyweds. Offer your wisdom, love, and guidance when needed, and respect their newfound independence and decisions. Your support is invaluable as they navigate the challenges and joys of married life.

Reflecting on the Journey

Take a moment to reflect on the journey you've shared with your daughter. From her first steps to her first day of school, you've been there through it all. Use this day as an opportunity to share stories, reminisce, and remind her of the beautiful moments that have brought you to this point.

Conclusion

Being a father on the wedding day is a unique and emotional experience. It's a day filled with love, laughter, and a touch of sadness as you watch your daughter start a new chapter in her life. Embrace your role with grace, navigate your emotions with an open heart, and remember that your love and support will forever be a guiding force in your child's life. Celebrate this beautiful day, for it's a testament to the love and bond you've nurtured over the years.

Saturday's are for the boys (too) | How to be a good groomsman on wedding day!

The big day has finally arrived, and your best buddy is about to tie the knot. As a groomsman, you play a vital role in making sure everything goes smoothly and that the groom has a fantastic day he'll cherish forever. While you're probably excited to celebrate and have a great time, it's essential to remember your responsibilities as well. In this guide, we'll share tips and tricks on how to be a good groomsman on the wedding day.

Early Bird Gets the Worm:

Start the day right by being punctual. Arrive early at the groom's place to help him get ready, provide emotional support, and ensure he's calm and collected. Being there when he needs you is a surefire way to be a fantastic groomsman.

Dress to Impress:

Take the time to properly groom yourself and put on your wedding attire. Make sure everything fits well and is in excellent condition. Being well-dressed adds to the overall aesthetic of the wedding and shows respect for the occasion.

Assist the Groom:

Throughout the day, your primary duty is to assist the groom. Help with any last-minute preparations, hold on to important items (like the rings), and offer words of encouragement when nerves kick in.

Coordinate with the Best Man:

Work closely with the best man to ensure that the groom's schedule is on track. Coordinate transportation, gather the wedding party when needed, and keep the energy positive and lighthearted.

Stay Hydrated and Nourished:

  1. Weddings can be long and tiring affairs. Make sure you eat and drink enough to keep your energy up but avoid excessive alcohol consumption until after your duties are fulfilled.

Emergency Kit:

Prepare a small emergency kit with items like a sewing kit, stain remover, safety pins, and extra tissues. You never know when someone might need it.

Speech and Toast:

If you're asked to give a speech, make it heartfelt and appropriate. Share your best wishes for the couple, reminisce about your friendship with the groom, and don't forget to raise a toast to the newlyweds.

Dance Floor Enthusiasm:

When it's time to hit the dance floor, let loose and have a blast. Your energy can set the tone for the rest of the guests, so make sure it's contagious.

Assist Guests:

Help guests find their way, answer questions, and make everyone feel welcome. A friendly groomsman can make the wedding experience enjoyable for all.

Capture the Moment:

  1. Use your smartphone or camera to capture candid moments throughout the day. These photos will be cherished by the couple and provide lasting memories.

Conclusion:

Being a good groomsman on the wedding day is all about showing your support, staying organized, and ensuring the groom has a fantastic day. By following these tips and tricks, you'll not only contribute to a smooth wedding but also create unforgettable memories with your best friend. So, gear up, stay classy, and make that wedding day in Indianapolis one for the books!

"Timeless Elegance: The Benefits of Including a Classic Car on Your Wedding Day"

Introduction

Your wedding day is one of the most significant and memorable events in your life. Every detail matters, from the dress and flowers to the venue and the transportation. While there are various options for wedding transportation, one choice that has been gaining popularity is the inclusion of a classic car. Adding a classic car to your wedding day can bring a touch of timeless elegance and offer numerous benefits that go beyond just arriving in style. In this blog post, we'll explore the many advantages of including a classic car on your special day.

  • Iconic Style and Elegance

Classic cars are synonymous with style and elegance. Whether it's a vintage Rolls-Royce, a sleek 1960s Mustang, or a charming Volkswagen Beetle, classic cars exude timeless beauty and sophistication. They provide a perfect backdrop for your wedding photos, enhancing the overall aesthetic of your day. Arriving in a classic car will make you feel like royalty, setting the tone for an unforgettable wedding experience.

  • Unique and Memorable Experience

Your wedding day should stand out in your memory as a unique and unforgettable experience. Including a classic car in your celebration can help you achieve just that. These cars carry a rich history and a sense of nostalgia that can add a distinctive and memorable element to your wedding. Your guests will be talking about your choice of transportation for years to come.

  • Stunning Photo Opportunities

Classic cars are not only visually striking but also provide fantastic photo opportunities. Whether it's a shot of the newlyweds driving away after the ceremony or a romantic moment captured by the car, classic cars can take your wedding photos to the next level. The contrast between the vintage vehicle and modern wedding attire creates a captivating visual story.

  • Versatile Options

Classic cars come in a wide range of makes and models, allowing you to find the perfect vehicle that matches your wedding theme and personal style. Whether you want a convertible for a summer wedding or a vintage sedan for a classic touch, there's a classic car to suit every preference. This versatility ensures that you can find a car that complements your wedding's overall aesthetic.

  • Arrive in Comfort and Style

Classic cars may have an old-world charm, but they often provide modern comforts, such as plush leather seats, air conditioning, and a smooth ride. You can enjoy the luxury of a classic car while still arriving at your wedding venue in vintage style. This combination of comfort and elegance ensures that your journey to the ceremony is both enjoyable and memorable.

  • Symbolic of a Lasting Union

A classic car, much like your marriage, represents endurance and longevity. These vintage vehicles have stood the test of time, reflecting the idea of a lasting and timeless union. Including a classic car in your wedding can serve as a symbol of your commitment to a love that will endure for years to come.

Conclusion

Including a classic car in your wedding day festivities is a decision that can elevate the entire experience. Beyond its visual appeal, a classic car offers a unique, memorable, and versatile addition to your celebration. It's an embodiment of timeless elegance, ensuring that your wedding day remains etched in your memory as a day of both style and substance. So, if you're looking to make a grand entrance and create lasting memories, consider the many benefits of including a classic car in your wedding plans.

Please share a few words about your experience working together:

We live out of state and Cody was very flexible with accommodating us for our engagement shoot! We loved his work then, and we were excited for the wedding day! During the wedding, Cody and Kendra went above and beyond to make us feel beautiful and confident. They were extremely helpful with poses and definitely know how to work the lighting in any given room! We are so pleased with the service and pictures!

Tell us a little about your story and your day!

My husband and I met seven years ago through a mutual friend in college. We currently live on the east coast but wanted to get married in Indiana as we have family all over the state. We chose Indy as we felt it was the easiest for everyone, and we chose the Artsgarden because we fell in love with the natural lighting and open space. The wedding day was perfect with plenty of time for my husband and i to connect alone and take every picture we could have wanted!

What advice would you give to other couples planning their wedding?

We definitely recommend using a planner! The planner connected us to so many amazing vendors (including our photographer) and made the day flow seamlessly. We are so thankful to our amazing team of vendors!

What was your favorite moment from your day?

We loved the whole day but our favorite moments were the first look, the exchanging of vows, the ceremony, and our first dance!

Rogue made my day go seamlessly! They were there during every step of the way and helped so much during the planning process. Everything turned out perfectly because of them!

Tell us a little about your story and your day!

The day was perfect! We decided to do a first look, which was the best part of the day! Seeing his reaction was priceless. I also did a first look with my father, and that was also a must have moment from my wedding. The ceremony was short but sweet, and we barely escaped the rain. The photographers captured it perfectly and the few rain drops at the end of the ceremony actually look beautiful. The photographers kept everything on time and helped everything keep moving so we could get all of our pictures taken and get to the fun part of the night!

What advice would you give to other couples planning their wedding?

Start thinking about your timeline much earlier than you think you need to. You don’t have as much time as you think you will.

What was your favorite moment from your day?

We did a first look and private vows between each other. We read our vows on a bridge and the moment was perfect. Rogue captured it perfectly!

Indianapolis Wedding Photographer | The Wedding Of Becca & Chris | A Laurel Hall Wedding

It’s no wonder that we have it selected as the location for our 2023 Harry Potter Mini Photo Sessions this year to stand in for Hogwarts!

Let’s Hear From The Couple!

Tell us a little about your story and your day!

We've been together about 7 years, we're both designers and we love the outdoors. We got engaged on a camping road trip to Glacier National Park. It was important for us to pick a location that spoke to our architectural careers and also captured our love for nature - Laurel Hall was the perfect fit! The best part of our wedding day was celebrating with all of our family and friends. It was important for us to include details that had special meaning to us, from hand painted maracas, family photos, and hand crafted cornhole boards, to flowers from home, wearing my mom's veil, and having a robe made from my best friend's wedding dress. It was the perfect day!

What advice would you give to other couples planning their wedding?

Be present in every moment, exercise mindfulness, and when things go wrong, remind yourself of something you are grateful for.

What was your favorite moment from your day?

It's hard to pick just one moment. My top three are:

1. getting ready with my girls in the bridal suite,

2. the ceremony,

3. eating dinner looking out at everyone who traveled to celebrate with us.

Please share a few words about your experience working with Rogue Images Photography:

We had an instant connection with Cody during our introduction phone call, and he was so helpful throughout the planning process - providing us with recommendations for other vendors as well as working with us from across the country. We had an AMAZING engagement photo session with him about 1 month before our wedding, with the goal to print a large photo to be a central decor piece on our wedding day. His work is STUNNING, and he makes you feel like a million bucks when his camera is pointed at you! His bustling skills are top notch as well ;)

Indiana Wedding Photography | The Wedding Of Kayla & Andrew | 3 Fat Labs Wedding & Event Barn

Kayla & Andrew | 4.30.23

Tell us a little about your story and your day!

Andrew and I met in 2015 while we both were attending DePauw University; I was a freshman from Florida, and he was a sophomore from Texas at the time. Since we were both on the swim team, I ended up sitting next to him and talked to him while at a swim meet and we hit it off right away! I remember during our conversation I couldn’t stop thinking about how funny he was. He has the type of humor where he curates the perfect joke and waits for just the right moment to tell it in a conversation that never fails to leave you dying of laughter. Right away I was drawn to him because I have always had a weak spot for guys who could make me laugh and he was very attentive to everything I was saying so I could tell that he was someone who genuinely cared about what I had to say.

We quickly grew to become close friends, we would study together, talk at swim practice, he would give me advice about life, and we also played a lot of Mario Kart together. I absolutely loved finding any reason to spend time with him. My freshman year I had a rough time with moving to Indiana from Florida and Andrew was there for me that entire year as he understood what it was like to move from a far place to a state that you don’t have any friends or family in. Before I knew it, we had grown incredibly close, and he had become one of my best friends.

For the next two years, Andrew and I remained best friends. It wasn’t until early December of my junior year that I was finally ready to confess my feelings to him. After we both expressed that we wanted to be more than friends we began dating. Dating Andrew was an extremely fun time as we learned more about each other on a deeper emotional level that only made me fall harder for him. We started going on dates to get chicken fingers late at night, cooking for each other, car rides to Dairy Queen, and so many other adventures. On December 16, 2017 he officially asked me to be his girlfriend and I remember being so happy and excited to continue our adventure together. He was honestly the sweetest boyfriend I had ever had. He would send me adorable little messages that made me smile from ear to ear about the things he loved about me such as how beautiful he thought I was from head to toe, about how I would blush when I got embarrassed, that my smile was one of a kind. That he felt like he could tell me anything and that he was extremely comfortable with me. He told me that he values my openness with him and that he truly enjoyed being with me. Andrew always does everything he can to make me happy and I am extremely thankful for him.

I never imagined that I would fall in love with my best friend and choose to continue to do life with him each day. I love him for so many different reasons from the simple way that he calls me his little potato chip or chicken nugget to how safe I feel in his arms. He has been such an incredible part of my life and I continue to be excited about our future together. We have experienced many firsts together which has built everlasting memories for us like, eating Marco’s pizza on the floor together the first night in our furniture less apartment, adopting our first dog Watson together and all the ups and downs that come with taking in a rescue dog, to even buying our first house together. Like all relationships, we have had our challenges too but no matter what Andrew NEVER lets me go to bed angry just as I do the same for him, and maybe that’s our little secret to having such a strong relationship…who knows? I just know that there is nothing that we wouldn’t do for each other and I am forever grateful that I fell in love with my best friend and even more grateful that he chooses to put up with me day after day.

On October 31st, 2021 we went to Cataract Falls for a little “family” hike, me, Andrew, and Watson. He waited until there were no people around before turning me around so that we were facing each other. He got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. I was so overwhelmingly excited that I forgot to say yes and just kept shaking my head up and down until he told me that he was waiting for me to say the words aloud. After I verbally told him YES, he slipped the ring on my finger and we embraced into a tight hug while tears started forming in my eyes from the rush of emotions.

Our wedding day was absolutely perfect! I remember feeling worried about the rain however our amazing photographers were able to get in all the photos we wanted outside in between the rain showers. We even were able to get some cool rain shots! There were so many special moments from our wedding that will replay over and over in our memories such as our first dance, our first look, our amazing cocktail menu and charcuterie grazing table oh and who could forget about the cookie table full of homemade cookies from all our friends and family! I also will never forget when we were taking our first look photos with our dog Watson he began to throw up and my first instinct was to hug and take care of my dog, but I am beyond thankful for Cody, being the professional he is, quickly acting to make sure I did not end up with vomit on my dress.

Overall, the day could not have gone any better and we are still on cloud 9 post wedding!

What advice would you give to other couples planning their wedding?

Don’t sweat the little things. As a type A person I understand greatly how some people want everything to go perfectly but the reality is the day is going to be perfect no matter what happens so focus on the things you can control and let everything else go! Also, I know budget can get difficult but looking back at our wedding I am so thankful I splurged more on the things that were most important to us. It truly helped us have the most magical day! Oh also DIY when you can and Pinterest will be your best friend when planning!

What was your favorite moment from your day?

I have two favorite memories. When my dad gave me my mom’s ring that she wore on her wedding day as she passed away when I was a kid so it was a very special moment for me and it means a lot to now have something of hers that I can hold onto for the rest of my life. My other favorite moment was during my first dance with Andrew we both started crying over how much we loved one another and it was just incredibly special to share that moment especially since him and I are not the most emotional people in the world it meant so much to us both! There was another notable mention moment where Cody brought both Andrew and I a drink from the bar and I cannot even begin to add how thankful I was in that moment for him to do that it was such a nice thing for him to do and just was an extra way that he went above and beyond for us as a vendor, not only did he do a fantastic job but he also made sure we were having fun at our wedding!

Indianapolis Wedding Photographer | The Wedding Of Ruchika & Jeremy | Cincinnati Wedding: Hotel Covington

On St. Patrick’s Day weekend, we traveled to Covington, KY (Just across the river from Cincinnati, OH) for our first ever Indian wedding, a 2 day affair for Ruchika & Jeremy.

Their two day celebration was filled with love, laughter, dancing and SO MUCH COLOR!

Be sure to look for the special appearances by their puppy (and Ruchi’s first love) Violet and the mayor of Cincinnati who actually married them!

Please share a few words about your experience working together:

We cannot say enough good things about Cody and the Rogue Images Team!!! They were a huge factor in what made our wedding day so perfect. They expertly handled several tricky family situations and took curveballs in stride with zero hesitation. They were efficient (even when the wedding party was NOT!) and kept us on track all day. They were so easy to work with and helped make two of the least photogenic bride and grooms feel amazing on our big day. I would recommend them to anyone getting married or in need of a photographer for any big event!!!

Tell us a little about your story and your day!

We met in 2016 right as we were both about to graduate college. We immediately began dating and started building our lives together. We adopted our amazing dog, Kim, in 2019, and she took over our entire hearts from that moment on!! We got engaged in 2021 and began planning the wedding of our dreams with huge amounts of help from our wedding planner, Laura Petrucce. We were married on March 11, 2023 at the Biltwell Event Center. The entire day was perfect from start to finish, thanks in large part to Laura and Cody/ the Rogue Images team!!!

What advice would you give to other couples planning their wedding?

Get a wedding planner if at all possible!! Our planner, Laura Petrucce helped us find the BEST vendors, first among them being Rogue Images Photography!!! We would never have been able to have such a great wedding if we had to find the best vendors on our own.

What was your favorite moment from your day?

The First Look or the first dance :)
